AHH! My kid is obsessed with food!

How humbling to realize that many of my instincts on handling my adopted daughters food issues have been wrong, and my husband's right.  This after hearing the seminar, "Web seminar: Hoarding, Food Obsession and Weight Worries: Healing a History of Food Scarcity"

My good instincts were to provide a highly predictable structured pattern of healthy eating.  My bad ones were to be unresponsive to her anxiety levels at the table, and to increase them through limiting and focusing on moderation.

I'm going to try to avoid stress at the table.  And I'm going to try to focus on my role.  This was helpful: Parents determine what, when and where.  Kids determine how much and If.  Even if they vomit from overeating.  Dr. Rowell broke down three stages toward healing that helped give me some perspective.... like here is where we are and it may seem scary but it will lead to this better place if we stay on track.

Most of you who know me, know I have been really stressed about this issue for the last six months.  So glad to get help.  Another webinar in February should help address my questions about what to do with one overeater, and one picky eater.  Can't wait.

Ahhh, this is my kid. And Mr. T and myself do not entirely agree on how to handle it :-)

There have been countless times I have been shocked he has not vomitted from the amount of food he ate. Almost a year later though, and it is slowly getting better.
