How to Create a Homeschool Curriculum in 10 Minutes for Your Child

Summer Reading 2020 for my Year 6 child.

Keeping kids reading through the summer, especially for those not naturally super motivated makes the return to school easier on the kids.  It gives children something to shoot for everyday and some fun motivation to enhance their experience of being at home in the summer.  I like to keep popsicles, creamsicles, and boxed chocolate covered vanilla icecreams on hand.  Other prizes may require an outing or special trip to the store.  Today, I finished Aziza's Summer Reading Bingo chart using a list of Free Reading from Amblesideonline.org.  This brought a smile to her face, so I know I'm on the right track!

I chose to pick a few from last year (fifth grade)and a few from this past year (sixth) to keep the reading level varied--a few challenging picks like Ben Hur and a few easier to read like the Rescuers.  Then, I  sprinkled in some excellent christian biographies to the animal and adventure tales with books about great christians such as Ralph Moody, Betty Greene and Rees Howells.  This chart is designed for a girl in mind.  A boy might enjoy an outing to an archery range or a new super soaker gun.
