Give Thanks to the Lord~Ps 136

Pastor Jason encouraged us this morning to personalize our story in light of Psalm 136.  Here you go!

Give Thanks to the Lord, for He is good.
His love endures forever.
Give Thanks to the God of gods
His love endures forever.
Give Thanks to the Lord of lords
His love endures forever.

He brought me forth unplanned yet planned
His love endures forever.
He set me in a family turning to Himself
His love endures forever.
He called me in the living room to follow Him
His love endures forever.

He gave my Father care and foresight for my soul
His love endures forever.
He put me in a youth group with a zealous pastor
His love endures forever.
He fell gently completely wooing my 12 year old soul
His love endures forever

He showed me His incomparable beauty
His love endures forever
Shielded by His love, he covered, protected, and preserved me
His love endures forever

Launched to the nations, he sent me
His love endures forever
Compelled by their suffering, he drew me
His love endures forever
His vision imparted to me
His love endures forever.

Clinging to Him, he united me
His love endures forever
A Christian husband he gave me
His love endures forever
With children he blessed me
His love endures forever

His heart bleeds before me
His love endures forever
His call in me
His love endures forever

Trials swirled around me
His love endures forever
Twice near death, he saved me
His love endures forever
His pressure squeezed me
His love endures forever
Fruit he brought forth through me
His love endures forever.

Unplanned yet Planned

My daughters new ministry...

Its amazing to watch your children grow into their gifts and use them to build the kingdom.  As I have mentioned before, I feel our call as a family comes out of Is 61.  We are to rebuild the ruined city.  Chicago has been devastated by sin and the vulnerable children get the worst of it.  As a Safe Family, we are partnered with other families who are meeting this need right now.

Many families are biracial temporarily and need help with the hair of the child they are caring for, bu t have no family connections to do it cheaply. Abigail has developed a plan to meet this need.  See her blog post for Safe Families.  She is offering her services!  Yes!  I love that heart...it is one of my home school goals to see my kids use their gifts to bless a hurting world.

2,000 garlic bulbs and the Kimball family pulling together

Why garlic?  Its hardneck organic garlic... Organic meaning grown in a weed patch sans Roundup.  Hardneck meaning it smells like Olive Garden restaurant the moment it hits the frying pan. Mmm wonderful whose taste excels our Aldi Chinese import garlic.   Here in the outskirts of Ann Arbor people love love love locally grown artisan food.  There are wonderful restaurants like Zingermann's Roadhouse and small groceries like Argos that source from local farms.  France has nothing on this region.  In Chicago, its rare' though possible to find a tomato grown in the 5 mile radius of my home, but here you can find local wine, beer, cheese, bread, (even Jiffy corn muffins are from local Michigan corn), maple syrup, honey, pork, and vegetables.

The pet duck lives in the henhouse with the chickens.  For some reason she never developed oil on her skin and has to be babysit at the pond, so she won't freeze to death.  They free range out here.  Did you know duck eggs are the size of an extra large chicken egg?

The three generation here are Chad and his brother, Nate.  Nate's son Gabe and Tom Kimball, Chad's dad.  This is one of the reasons we're here--to bond and share with the Kimball family here at Kinhaven farm!

What a sense of satisfaction we had after sweating to death and fighting nettles, to see the garlic fill the back of the truck.  Hard work never felt so good!

Clean & Green: Block Club Kids Clean up

SO HAPPY today that our block club kids and parents came out for CLEAN & GREEN-- a citywide effort to brighten up our world.  The city had some organizational issues let's say, but we got it done none the less.  The dead end is now debris free for a little while!  Denisha made sure all the kids got popsicles who helped and Byron gave each little helper a dollar!  Aziza said, "That was really fun, Mom!"
