awed

Our hurt makes us want to scratch, to judge, to run away and close our hearts. And Jesus bids us look at himself. How he picked out the despised Zaccheus and went to hang out with HIM. The one everyone turned away from--the one who had caused so much pain and hurt. And he validates him, calls him by name, and Zaccheus turns...he turns because of love. Love. And our neighbor has turned towards us. Because of a little girls note, "Let's be friends" because of pushing past the hurt to love... My heart was not so open as little B's but we went together: bringing our love offering. I can't help but cry and be awed at my God.

Well- after our first four days in the apartment, the neighbor downstairs came up (first his wife then him) very upset. He wanted us to change or he was going to get us out of there and he said such things...so mean sounding to me--no grace for us or our jetlagged children...
