Country time

Tonight we walked the perimeter of the 12 acre property inspecting the fences. We hope Faith can bring her horse, Kitty out to stay in the little corral here. The kids got to see her surgery today at the big animal doc in town. The doc did the yearly teeth filing and in addition cut a fluid sac out of her ear. The kids wanted to see the sac so he cut it open for them. The fluid squirted out like a fountain and nearly hit Janaya! What would Lisette say? Because Kitty will need daily doctoring, we thought having her here would be convenient. Chad is excited about the possibility of a little animal care since he had to leave his chickens...:-)!
On our walk, the kids discovered a small hill covered in the softest foot high grass. Caleb tumbled down first, the girls followed, sliding as if it were snow covered, to the soft bottom. Seeing them in the warm evening light, giggling as they flew down was delightful.
On a different note, I have felt frustrated at the amount of whining from the kids when they need help. Rather than ask, they freak out as if there is no helper. They need to trust that there is a helper. The girls nature study for the day was the beautiful mountains out our kitchen window...they copied the verse Ps 121:1,2 as well, "I look up to the mountains. Where does my help come from? My help comes from he LORD." What a wonderful visual of the Helper we all have.

It does seem to be a challenge to foster dependence on God rather than dependence on Mom for everything...."I can do ALL things through Him who strengthens me!"
