When Life (at home) doesn't seem fair---- (*my application of Pastor Mark's sermon :-)*)

"Do I have to iron his shirts?  Do I have to make his bed?"  As a busy young mom, sometimes we can resent the good works that we do or that we are asked to do.  Or we can feel boxed in and labeled.

In our increasingly androgynous-loving culture, the traditional roles of men and women have been blurred, confused and everything seems up for grabs.  We have lost any cultural direction.  As Christian wives and mothers, we need to be even more grounded in the Word to have true spiritual discernment about our work in the home.  Generally, the Bible doesn't focus on legalistic dos and don'ts for the Christian as much as heart attitudes.  See here in 1 Cor. 10:27:

Paul’s instruction on this matter is clear: believers should give up their rights and freedoms for the sake of others. This is the essence of sacrifice. This is what Jesus did. This is what Paul does. Otherwise, community becomes impossible. But no state or church authority should force compliance; it must arise from a heart of love and a disposition that puts the needs of others first.  (The Voice)

It isn't so much that you as a young mom "have to" or "don't have to".  Its certainly not right to dismiss a service task because "its not you" or in other words you tell God what you will and will not do in life.  The questions is, "Where is your heart?"  Are you wanting to lay down, serve, give up?  Are you focused on others or yourself?

Lord, help me see others needs a little more clearer today.   Help me care a little more deeply.
