This sounds like a variation of the "Crazy Cycle" from the Love and Respect videos Faith & Ron put us onto. We showed the first one last night at our home group. It goes: Without love, she reacts without respect. Without respect, he reacts without love. And on and on. Nobody getting what they crave in their heart of hearts.
It is as crazy as that. I've done the crazy cycle too. That's why I love Jesus. He can give me love that empowers me to respect when my flesh says, NO!
